Àlex Terés and Jordi Segarra present 'Yes you can' in Andorra, a guide to 'transforming the political monologue into political dialogue

Andorra la Vella.- Based on their experiences on the North American election campaign that took Barack Obama to the White House, political consultants Jordi Segarra and Àlex Terés have written  a book that takes as its title the famous slogan Yes, you can. Looking for the perfect candidate. Segarra and Terés explain that theirs is not a book to be taken as a technical manual for professionals, but rather it should be read as a guide full of examples and experiences of the campaign with Obama that helps to understand ‘where political communication is going today'. The two consultants have shown themselves to be firmly in favour of 'democratizing the political processes', and consider that current political communication  transforms ' the political monologue into debate'. The book explains that 'the three essential pillars in politics are ideas, leadership and money'. Àlex Terés expanded this idea by stating ' There should be only one strategy, but many tactics that must adapt to the terrain on which they are working. Communication is not an exact science, and in this book we have related those recommendations and tactics that we believe to be right'.

The political consultant SegarraTerés wins two silver Pollie Awards in the categories of ' grassroots' and graphic design

Washington. -  The political consultants Jordi Segarra and Àlex Terés received two prizes this year for their work in the field of political communication. The Pollie Awards 2009 ceremony took place in the North American capital in a gala dinner at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Centre of Washington AD. The jury recognized the work of SegarraTerés in two categories: grassroots campaigns and graphic design. The two prizes were for a campaign that the two consultants directed in the last communal elections that took place in Andorra, where they put into practice new tendencies in political communication. Segarra and Terés, who received the two silver flame trophies, are the first members of the European Association of Political Consultants to receive this most internationally renowned  prize in political communication.

The Generalitat of Catalunya hires Segarra and Terés to train their people in charge of press and communication

Barcelona. - The consultants in political and institutional communication, Jordi Segarra and Àlex Terés, imparted the course 'The managing of public opinion' to the top professionals responsible for the departments of press and communication of the Generalitat of Catalunya. The course is part of the training program that the Generalitat offers to its workers. The course took place in Barcelona with the participation of 85 professionals of communication for the Generalitat, attributed to the various councils, from department bosses to council press officers. One of the key ideas that Segarra and Terés wanted to transmit throughout the course of the training is that in the management of  public opinion, it is important that the information generated by the sources 'should not be treated as propaganda, but as news'. This way public opinion, through traditional and new media', affords greater credibility to institutional contents'.

Barcelona. - The book Yes You Can. Looking for the Perfect Candidate', by Jordi Segarra and Àlex Terés, stems from a wish to lay down the keys that contribute to the making of the perfect candidate. The book that was launched at the Bertrand Bookstore of Barcelona and at the University of Lleida, is concieved as a manual directed at candidates, politicians and more generally people interested in electoral careers and all that they entail. The authors analyze the essential points that intervene throughout the process of creating a candidate. Drawing from their experience as political consultants, Jordi Segarra and Àlex Terés impart their knowledge in this book that arose from their work on the advisory team to Barack Obama.

Segarra and Terés expose the keys to the correct managing of public opinion before a group of elected officials of the Socialist Party of Catalunya

Lleida. - Àlex Terés and Jordi Segarra exposed in Lleida some of the keys to achieving a correct management of public opinion before an auditory made up of numerous elected officials of the Socialist Party of Catalunya. The act that was presented by the mayor of Lleida, Àngel Ros, boasted the presence of the first vice-president of the Congress of Deputies, Teresa Cunillera. The conference centred on the different tools that the candidates can use in elections to get through to their voters, and stressed the importance of getting the voter to be implicated in the campaign and feel part of it. The report underlined the necessity of being aware of some basic points such as coherence in discourse or the ability to read the situations, like for instance the current economic crisis, to adapt them to needs of the campaign. Technological media as a tool for bringing the politician closer to the citizen were also central to the conference, and attention was drawn to the fact that the great challenge for today’s candidates is to achieve a dialogue with the voter, rather than the monologue of the past. All these points can be seen in examples of the Barack Obama campaign, in which Segarra and Terés participated as consultants.
